The Royal University of Dhaka’s faculty and staff conferred an honorary title upon Professor Dr. M. Abul Kashem Mozumdar, appointing him as the Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, HBM Iqbal, finalized the appointment in a Tuesday afternoon meeting. A warm welcome ceremony was organized by the Vice-Chancellor-Deans Forum (VC-DF) of the Royal University of Dhaka, held at 11 am on Wednesday in the university’s library hall room.
During the ceremony, the newly appointed VC, Professor Dr. Abul Kashem Mozumder, expressed gratitude to the university’s teaching staff. He emphasized the importance of sincere, serious, and submissive efforts to propel the university forward and sought everyone’s cooperation.
Professor Dr. Prafulla Chandra Sarkar underscored the need for unity, advocating for collaborative efforts to advance the university. Dr. Jamil Ahmed encouraged regular class attendance among students, emphasizing its importance.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dipu Siddiqui, highlighted the government’s initiative to build a smart Bangladesh, stressing the necessity of cultivating smart students and citizens. He expressed optimism that the newly appointed VC could contribute to realizing the vision of valiant freedom fighter Dr. HBM Iqbal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The event, presided over by University VC-in-charge and Registrar Dr. Jamil Ahmed, included a welcome speech by Dr. Md. Abu Bakar Siddiqui (Dr. Dipu Siddiqui), the Vice President of the VC-DF Forum. Eminent sociologist Professor Dr. Profulla Chandra Sarker, the University’s Advisor, served as the guest of honor.
Various key figures participated in the discussion, including Controller of Examinations Dr. Abul Kalam Md.Rafiq Ullah, Acting Dean of Business Studies Shahidur Rahman Khan, Proctor Malay Sarker, and Chairman of the English Department Jahrat Ara.
